The Soweto Theatre came alive with glamour and emotion on Saturday night as Lungile Siyaphi was crowned White Star Miss Soweto 2025, taking home R100,000 in cash and designer evening gowns in the pageant’s 46th edition.
The spectacular evening marked the culmination of a journey that began on October 16, when the Top 20 finalists were unveiled.
Throughout the competition, contestants participated in transformative workshops designed to prepare them for leadership roles beyond the pageant stage.
Siyaphi impressed the esteemed judging panel with her grace, poise, and commitment to community upliftment.
The panel included media personality and broadcaster Bridget Masinga, Sowetan lifestyle journalist Masego Seemela, and award-winning makeup artist Bongi Mlotshwa, a former Miss Soweto winner herself.
Boitumelo Molotsana was named 1st Princess, receiving R20,000 in cash along with the Miss Social Butterfly prize of R5,000, voted by her fellow contestants. Kutlwano Zingitwa earned the 2nd Princess title and R15,000.
Meanwhile, Thando Motha captured hearts across the nation, winning the People’s Choice Award (Miss Congeniality) through public voting, along with R5,000 in prize money.
All three top winners received luxury beauty hampers from Black Opal to complement their prizes.
The evening featured a captivating performance by singer Azana, whose soulful voice set the tone for the celebration.
Co-hosts Nia Brown and Thulz of YFM kept the energy high throughout the night, while former White Star Miss Soweto 2016 and 2025 Miss South Africa finalist Nthabiseng Kgasi added star power on the red carpet.
