The current mayor of Johannesburg Dada Morero is leading the joint operation with Department of Home Affairs, and Cllr Mlungisi Mabaso (Member of the Mayoral Committe for Human Settlements), led a verification operation on 25 August 2025, in JUMPUS INFORMAL SETTLEMENT. This operation, involving SAPS and JMPD, aimed to identify and plan for undocumented foreign nationals within the settlement.
Informal settlement dismantling, in a broader operation in Johannesburg’s north surburbs, Merero team worked to dismantle informal settlement. The mayor stated the goal was to reclaim the city, remove illegal structure and address lawless.
