Marking the brand’s official entry into the local automotive market, the first shipment of Changan vehicles has arrived in South Africa.
Chinese automaker Changan has announced its first shipment of models has landed at the Durban Port. Distributed by Jameel Motors South Africa, the Changan brand is expected to launch locally later this month. Included in the first shipment were the Alsvin sedan, CS75 Pro SUV, and Deepal S07. Other models, which include a few bakkies, will join the Chinese carmaker’s local lineup in 2026. Jameel Motors South Africa, in partnership with logistics company Vehicle Delivery Services (VDS), will distribute the Changan and Deepal model offerings.
The Alsvin sedan is equipped with a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine, which can be paired to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed dual-clutch transmission. The naturally aspirated four-banger produces 78 kW and 145 N.m.
The CS75 Pro is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbopetrol engine that produces 138 kW and 300 N.m of torque. The 1.5-litre mill is exclusively with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The CS75 Pro will be available in five- and seven-seater configurations.
Locally, the all-electric Deepal S07 SUV will be available with a 66.8 kWh battery that offers a claimed WLTP range of up to 560 km. The rear-wheel-drive SUV’s single electric motor produces 160 kW and 320 N.m, allowing for a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of 7.9 seconds. The Deepal S07’s DC fast-charging capability means the battery can charge from 30 to 80% in roughly 35 minutes.
To manage the logistics of this new venture, Jameel Motors South Africa has entered into a partnership with Vehicle Delivery Services, a local logistics firm. VDS will oversee the customs clearance, storage, and delivery of the vehicles from the port to dealerships across the country.
In a parallel development essential for its local operations, Changan South Africa has officially opened a new parts warehouse in Kempton Park. The facility, located near the R21 highway, is intended to provide national after-sales support. With a floor area of 7 500 square metres, the Pomona warehouse is designed to ensure the distribution of genuine Changan components to service centres nationwide.

The warehouse operation is supported by a partnership with DP World, a global logistics group. This collaboration is intended to leverage international supply chain expertise to meet the standards of Changan’s global network, which operates in more than 70 countries. Together, these developments represent Changan’s stated commitment to establishing a durable presence for the brand in South Africa.
